My intended message for my public service ad is to make history and end poverty. I want people to look at my ad and want to help. I want them to be intrigued by the look of the ad so it makes them go to the website and look into it more. My goal would be for them to donate to the organization but I want to be subtle about asking for money, or any kind of donation, because I do not want to come off as desperate. Even though I do not want to come off desperate, I do want my target market to know that they will be helping a good cause for people who need help.
My intended target audience for this ad would be liberal middle to upper class young adults and up. Both men and women in these categories would work for my target market as well. If I had to pick an age to start my target audience at I would say around 30 years old because people looking to help nonprofit organizations usually already have a career and have their lives on track, therefore they are most likely the ones who have a little extra money to spend on things like this. I would go for people who are more liberal because in general liberals are more interested in sharing, even when it comes to taxes. Conservative people are more interested in making their own money and keeping it for their families. My target audience would be households consisting of couples or couples with families that look to help others. Couples who have families may be more interested in helping my organization because they know how hard it is to have to feed the entire family and keep a steady income to provide for their family. They may be able to relate to my nonprofit easier than couples without children because they never want their family to experience what these people are going through. I do not think I would target people with a specific education level, but I would assume that most people in the middle to upper classes would of graduated college with some kind of degree and have a steady career.
The design of my public service ad reinforces my intended message of making history and ending poverty because the first thing that stands out is the text on my ad. I made the background of my ad black and white so the colored text would pop out right away. I want my target audience to read the text first and become interested so it makes them look at the background and the picture of the poor hungry women hunched over.
