Helps International Brochure Target Audience Statement

I chose to create a brochure for a non-profit organization called Helps International. My intended message for this brochure is to help save lives in Guatemala. I want people to look at the brochure and feel like they can make a difference by donating or maybe even volunteering, like I did over Fall break, to help Guatemalans live a healthier and more safe life. Readers should understand that there are different organizations to get involved in through Helps International, like the water filter project or ONIL stove project. I want to grab reader’s attention first by pictures that pull them into reading the brochure.  Hopefully by grabbing their attention, they will want to read the entire brochure that provides a brief explanation on the organization and than hopefully they will go to the website and look more into Help International. My main goal and purpose of the brochure is to get people to donate their time and or money to help save lives in Guatemala because they are in desperate need of help, more than we realize.
My intended target audiences for this non-profit brochure are United State citizens who are college-aged students through adults of all ages. I would target United State citizens because people in other countries are not as willing as people in the United States are to help people in countries other than their own. Usually college students are the ones who want to volunteer to help with service projects and fundraise for them, which they can do through this non-profit organization, and the adults are the ones who will most likely donate to the organization. I would most likely be targeting liberal middle to upper class men and women because they are the ones who have money to donate and they are the ones who will want to help people who are less fortunate than they are. I would target liberal men and women because they are the ones who are most likely willing to help in other countries because they are not as conservative and are more willing to help people outside of their country. I think any household size could be targeted here because it does not matter how big your family is for you to want to help others. My target audience would also be people who are religious because they will help others, people who like the outdoors because they will maybe join a mission trip or service project to help the Guatemalans, risk takers, people who like to travel and have great respect for people in other countries, and people who just want to help people in general.
The design of my brochure reinforces my intended message to help save lives in Guatemala by having viewers first look at the picture on the front page of two adorable young Guatemalan girls. Once they are drawn in by the picture they will read the statement that tells them that they can help save lives and than they will see the name of the organization. Once they open the brochure they will see what the organization is all about on their right said and they can than read a little on the history of the organization. Once they open the brochure up even more they will see how they can help and what they can do for the organization and the Guatemalans, followed by pictures of people in Guatemala and people who have helped the Guatemalans. Lastly, on the back of the brochure is Helps International’s mission statement so they target audience can get a feel of how this non-profit thinks. This design effectively communicates to the unique attributes of my target audience because it first draws in the people who may feel bad for people in Guatemala and people who just want to help others by seeing the front picture. Once those people are drawn in by the picture, they will want to see what the brochure is all about.
